Alive Culture Expands Offering with Legal Services for Artists
Alive Culture, a media company dedicated to showcasing Africa’s rich and diverse cultural heritage, has expanded its services to include accessible legal support for artists across the entertainment industry. Rooted in a mission to share the Good News of Jesus Christ, Alive Culture continues to merge purpose with practical support for creatives navigating complex industry landscapes.
Recognising a gap in the market, Alive Culture now provides legal consultations on a wide range of contractual matters, including agreements with managers, brands, and record labels. The service also includes contract drafting and advisory support for disputes, ensuring that artists are equipped with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions.
The initiative is particularly geared towards emerging independent artists, many of whom face challenges understanding complex legal agreements early in their careers. Alive Culture aims to simplify this process by breaking down legal terms into clear, accessible language, helping clients identify what should be revised, added, or removed in their contracts.
What distinguishes Alive Culture is its flexible and globally accessible approach. Consultations can be conducted remotely, eliminating geographical barriers. The service is led by Grace, a UK-based barrister, alongside Hope, an artist and DJ who brings valuable industry insight—offering clients both legal expertise and real-world creative experience.
One recent success includes supporting artist Silas Africa in navigating a record label agreement, enabling him to fully understand his options and make informed career decisions.
Alive Culture’s legal services are designed to be affordable and transparent, with packages starting from R750 and extending to R3,500. Services are available both nationally and internationally, making professional legal support more accessible to artists at all stages of their careers.
Looking ahead, Alive Culture’s mission is to foster a more equitable entertainment industry where artists particularly those starting out are treated fairly and professionally.
